Taught Courses

In Semester 2, students build on the knowledge acquired in Semester 1 by learning how statistical methods are applied to the analysis of genetic data. All students also select one of the following specialist areas for in-depth study:

Animal Breeding and Genetics
Evolutionary Genetics
Human Complex Trait Genetics


Mini Research Project

The mini-project aims to consolidate taught theory and extend analytical skills, so providing an introduction to independent research as required in the main MSc research project (undertaken over the summer months). Students can select from a range of topics reflecting the subjects studied. All students are individually supervised in one of the participating Institutes. Mini-projects run in parallel to the Semester 2 courses (weeks 1-11).
